The Version described here is UlangoTV IPTV for Premium Subscribers. The extended Version UlangoTV+EPG-IPTV is also available from the store.
UlangoTV is really smart!
There are basically two methods to receive live TV from the Internet (IPTV). You buy an expensive subscription with playlists from one or more vendors - or - with a bit of
effort - search for such lists (keywords M3U EXTINF) with search engines like Google or Bing and load them into your favorite player, e.g. VLC, MX Player, XMTV Player or
the standard Android Media Player.
UlangoTV and the related paid services use exactly these components of the second kind. Just as a modern search engine uses machine learning to present only relevant
search results to users, UlangoTV uses such techniques for classifying streams (URLs). by region, station, availability, quality and even legality and associates them with
electronic program guides and other data.
The result is a TV app in which not all channels work perfectly, but where a huge number of channels (on average about 6000!) can be seen from all over the world, with
occasional loss of quality and varying availability.
This makes sense to many users because they may see broadcasters from the distant homeland to which they otherwise have no access or because they simply want to learn
about other cultures.
An inherent problem with our search engine is that too many users are destroying the good performance of the discovered streams. So in this App UlangoTV+ we introduced a
new option called Premium Plus, which is only available to a few users who want to pay a premium price and now receive handpicked streams with tightly controlled
connectivity. To make a clear distinction between these two concepts, we introduced UlangoTV+ EPG-IPTV Explorer (short UlangoTV+). So we have two Apps with Up- and
Downgrade Paths: UlangoTV for Premium subscribers and UlangoTV+ for Premium Plus subscribers.
Because this is an international app, we cannot control the availability in certain countries. It's the user's liability to decide what he or she is watching - similar to
offerings in the major search engines. We try to identify probably illegal content with a color scheme and thus support the user with defining his search orders for our
search engine.
In no way we are copying any content nor storing content for re-streaming. Streams are directly viewed by connecting the Black-Box UlangoTV Player with the Server where
the stream URL points to. So content owners should blame the re-streamers it they think, their content is distributed illegally.
We have also integrated an open source Electronic Program Guide into our App. Because we are presenting live TV channels and not just streams, we can add informations like
a description of the ongoing program, channel logo and other meta data. Usually the user gets a selection of streams from several sources an he can switch streams and thus
give feedback to the system and other users on the quality of individual streams.
The UlangoTV app is tightly connected to the website http://ulango.tv. Many personalization functions are available both from the app and the website:
* Editing as many playlists as you want
* Upload your own m3u lists supporting all major protocols
* Definition of search orders with access level filters
* Feedback on unwanted adult or violent channels or wrong channel/stream matches.
* Selection of optimal internal or external players.
UlangoTV Versions (starting at 3 € / month with the Premium option and 8€ with the Premium Plus option) open access to more than 6000 Channels worldwide.
While UlangoTV Users have to live with fluctuation from varying search results, UlangoTV+ presents a more reliable TV experience with more and more stable streams to a
limited number of users. Details on upgrade and downgrade paths are given in the ulango.tv/shop.
UlangoTV is presented in the social media on facebook and twitter and with a blog (blog.ulango.tv)
