The BMW e31 is a BMW 8 series body type vehicle produced between 1989-1999. BMW wanted to participate in the race between the E31 design and super sports cars and made the M8
in 1990. But since the BMW e31 M8 was much more expensive than other BMW models produced, it became an unpopular model. It stopped production in 1999.
The BMW e31 M8, on the other hand, gave life to the McLaren F1 by strengthening its engine.
The BMW e31 inspired engineers to build the 6 Series based on the model E24, designed as a grand tourer powered by a V8 and V12 engine.
The BMW e31, which is entirely different from the BMW E24 in design, has inspired many BMW cars because of its price.
Offered in four different versions during its ten-year life, the BMW e31 had five different engine options:
840Ci, 4.0 (M60) V8 - 286 hp/400 Nm
840Ci, 4.4 (M62) V8 - 286 hp/420 Nm
850i, 5.0 (M70) V12 - 300 hp/450 Nm
850Ci, 5.4 (M73) V12 - 326 hp/490 Nm
850CSi, 5.6 (S70) V12 - 380 hp/550 Nm
A common problem that BMW e31 users complained about was: Exploding water pump hose, Vibration on Braking, and unstable idle speed on a V8 engine.
As a result, the BMW e31 is the 8 Series of BMW with its powerful engines and innovative technologies. It is legendary as a 2-door coupe designed by Klaus Kapitza.
